In this triptych -like show , we blend our dialogues, readings, stories and songs with an aesthetic work based on visuals and photographs.

Is it a lecture? A narrated story? An autobiography? All of the above!

“Well, I propose that we combine the purest tradition of talented 19th-century historians with the innovative concept of interactive mediation of living heritage to ask this fundamental question: WHO WAS HENRIETTE RENAN?”

In the first part, presented as a guided tour—sometimes scholarly and always biased!—we, Anne and Hélène, enthusiastic members of the “Friends of Henriette Renan Society,” explore the Renan Museum, from cellar to attic, rediscovering a Henriette who has fallen into oblivion. In a lively dialogue, we playfully engage with the conventions of the ever-fashionable “cultural mediation of heritage.” So, was Henriette a feminist or a submissive woman of her time?

Each one has her own idea, which she defends with humor and determination.

“I heard the stories of the women here. And I made them my own: it is through them that I learned to be a daughter, a sister, and a woman. I am an heir.”
